In a four-day tour of the United Kingdom, fantastic South African pianist Jill Richards will present a recital of piano music strongly influenced by traditional Southern African musics, composed by acclaimed South African composers Michael Blake, Robert Fokkens and Kevin Volans.
The programme includes the première of Robert Fokkens' 9 Solitudes, commissioned for her by the SAMRO Endowment for the National Arts; a substantial set of Kevin Volans' 6 Etudes, and the première in London of the full set; and Michael Blake's mbira-inspired French Suite.
