NEW MUSIC IMAGES 2: Sound on Film
Four short films from an ongoing BBC project that pair imaginative filmmakers with composers of note. Pilgrimage is a deeply spiritual work combining the talents of Werner Herzog and John Tavener. Nicolas Roeg and Portishead's Adrian Utley created the contemplative Sound. Hal Hartley's film The New Math(s) has music by Louis Andriessen. The surrealistic Brothers Quay direct In Absentia with music by Karlheinz Stockhausen. Footage of the directors and composers in conversation precedes each film.
