There has been a considerable change in the organizational personnel of the South African ISCM section in the past year. Our President, Mokale Koapeng, stepped down due to pressure of work and was replaced by Chris Walton, while the vacant post of Treasurer was taken on by Michael Blake. Our association with the University of the Witwatersrand has now ceased. This brought with it a move of office, and is now part of a larger-scale reorganization that is going to feature a new membership drive, and will forge new links with other institutions and organizations in South Africa in an effort to promote contemporary music in an even broader manner than hitherto. The 2006 New Music Indaba in Grahamstown was a great success; as of 2007, the Indaba will move to Gauteng Province (primarily Johannesburg and Pretoria). Our journal, the NewMusicSA Bulletin, continues - we believe! - to be the most thought-provoking, critical journal on the music scene in South Africa, and we are currently broadening its editorial board to include interested parties from abroad. We anticipate being able to expand our Growing Composers project in 2007, which has already benefited many young composers from the previously disadvantaged communities.
