Urgent Call For Scores

NEWMUSICSA & SANYOF INVITE YOU TO SUBMIT WORKS FOR PERFORMANCE

As part of their developing partnership in promoting new South African music, NewMusicSA and the South African National Youth Orchestra Foundation (SANYOF) invite South African composers to submit works to be considered for performance at the 2009 SANYOF course between 25 June - 3 July 2009 in Pretoria.

WORKS REQUIRED

We require works of an appropriate standard for the following ensembles:

1. Symphony Orchestra

There are two orchestras:

• The National Youth Orchestra; and
• The Concert Orchestra

Performing abilities:

• NYO players are all above a Grade 6 standard
• Concert Orchestra players are, on average, about Grade 6 standard, although wind players tend to be slightly more advanced.

2. Wind Band

The National Youth Wind Band performs music of between Grades 5-7 standard.

3. String Ensemble

The String Ensemble performs music around a Grade 5 standard.

SUBMISSIONS

This call for works requires IMMEDIATE response. Please let Sophia Welz know if you intend to submit scores by 18 May.

Scores — in hard copy or electronic format (Sibelius or PDF) — should preferably be accompanied by a recording (MIDI acceptable), and need to be received by 22 May at the latest.

Should your piece be selected, a full set of parts will be required by 1 June 2009.
