Dear Members

We are excited to inform you about an opportunity to submit a score for consideration. We will select and submit three scores to the Flemish section for final adjudication and selection. To this end, please look at the call for score on the ISCM website and send your submission to [email protected] by 31 March 2025.

"The ISCM Flemish Section (MATRIX New Music Centre) is launching a Call for Works. As part of their educational activities they are preparing an anthology of contemporary music for string instruments, suitable for young / amateur musicians. The Call invites each section of the ISCM to suggest up to 3 suitable compositions for this collection. As a documentation centre and educational organization MATRIX [New Music Centre] introduces diverse audiences to contemporary music. Activities include workshops, exhibitions, book publications, summer school and much more. Having published score collections for guitar, saxophone, piano, and brass instruments, MATRIX is now preparing a collection of scores for string instruments, suitable for young musicians."
Each section of the ISCM is invited to suggest up to 3 suitable compositions for this collection.
  • The primary focus is on solo works for violin, alto, cello or double bass, with or without piano accompaniment, but duos, trios, quartets and string ensemble pieces will ben considered as well, as are compositions involving electronics.
  • Relatively short works are preferred.
  • Compositions should be fit for beginning/young musicians, ranging from beginner level to pre-conservatory level.
  • Graphic scores are eligible as well.
  • There is no strict limit as to the year of composition. In addition to recent works, somewhat older compositions may also be submitted.
