Maike Watson is a Cape Town based, multi-genre composer, orchestrator and sound designer.
She grew up playing a variety of instruments, mainly the piano, viola, percussion and bassoon. After completing Matric as head-girl at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Kapstadt in Cape Town she began studying Mathematics, Chemistry and Music and Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2009 in Mathematics and Music.
Following that, Maike continued her music studies in Music Theory and graduated with a Masters in Musicology (Cum Laude) at the South African College of Music, UCT.
She since has since performed ad-hoc on the viola with the CPO, regularly features on the electric violin she built herself with Cape Town band 'The Perfect Shadows' and recently toured with Cape Town Youth Choir, singing in Cargnegie hall in 2017. She also plays the piano for local Ballet studio 'Just Move'.
Primarily, however, she freelances for different production studios on projects such as feature films, games, trailers, adverts and other promotional media. She continues to write contemporary, 'classical' music with regular guidance from Professor Hendrik Hofmeyr. You can contact her through her website here.
