May Newsletter

26/5/2017

Dear Subscriber

Welcome to our May Newsletter. In this issue, we have information about our new website; a reminder of both this year’s Indaba and issue of our annual Bulletin; a reminder of the call for articles; an opportunity for performers and composers as well as the usual reminders for opportunities.

As always, do let me know of any newsworthy items, for the next issue, that would help you to publicise your events in or after July. Likewise, if you hear of any composers’ or performers’ opportunities, just send an email to me at [email protected].

New Website

NMSA have launched the new website!

All subscribers are encouraged to visit the new site and make suggestions as to what you would like to add, or have changed. NMSA members are asked to consider whether they would like a page dedicated to them on the site, so please let us know your thoughts. Please respond to Douglas Scott at [email protected].

A separate notice will shortly be sent to members regarding updating their entry in the Directory.

Please note: anyone who is not member of NMSA and would like to appear in our Directory, please send me an email (above) and I will send you membership information.

NMSA Indaba 2017

This year’s Indaba will be held in Grahamstown from 13 to 16 September, but not in Rhodes University as I mistakenly mentioned last month, for which I apologise.

Just to remind you of the Call for Submissions for which there is a deadline of 17 July. Note that, in addition to music compositions to be performed, submissions include collaborations; workshops; masterclasses; presentations, etc. Please note the theme of the call, although the team welcomes submissions outside the scope of this theme.

The team look forward to receiving your submissions.

Bulletin 2017

  1. Submissions: Submissions for this year’s Bulletin, issue 16, are still open. We welcome submissions that fit this year’s theme of ‘Geographies of Sound’. For full information, please download the call.
  2. Notification of Premières: The Editorial Board would also like to invite all our composer-members to send full details of premières and CDs released since December 2013. Please supply date and place of performance as well as names of the performers and/or ensemble. Please send this information to [email protected], also by 16 June. Please also note that this is for our members only.

Please note that the deadline for your submission is 16 June.
