Welcome to our February Newsletter. In this issue, we have news about our membership; opportunities for composers; Lyrics Magazine request; New Music Concerts; a Forum on music law as well as the usual reminder of opportunities.
As always, do let me know of any newsworthy items, for the next issue, that would help you to publicise your events in or after April 2018. Likewise, if you hear of any composers’ or performers’ opportunities, just send an email to me at email@example.com.
Notices have been sent out to all current members to renew their membership for the coming year. If anyone did not renew last year, for whatever reason, I may not have sent them the notice, so I would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to become a member for the next year. Fees are still very reasonable, only R200 per year, or R150 if you apply before the end of February. All students or non-wage earners qualify to pay only R100 for the year. Contact me with a completed application form and proof of payment.

New Music Concerts
In 2011 Liesl Stoltz embarked on a post-doctoral project to promote South African classical composers and specifically their work for flute. The project was a great success with performances and workshops locally and abroad notably at the 2017 International Flute Festival in Paris, France. The composers whose works were included were Stefans Grove, Hendrik Hofmeyr, Alexander Johnson, Peter Klatzow, Paul Hanmer, Paul Loeb van Zuilenberg, Roelof Temmingh and Braam du Toit. The purpose of this new project is to continue on the same journey; to promote South African music, but this time round focusing on the younger generation of South African composers. The programme includes works by Conrad Asman, Robert Fokkens, Adrian More and Jan-Hendrik Harley performed by Liesl Stoltz (flute), Peter Martens (cello) and José Dias (piano).
